Our project is to re-roof cabins at 5Rock Ranch. To learn more about 5Rock and their ministry, visit their web site. (If you've heard of the "Flying M Ranch", 5Rock is the new ministry at what used to be the Flying M.)
If you have been assigned to this project, congratulations! This is a great ministry to support, and we're going to have a blast.
We will be removing the existing roofing and replacing it with metal roofing. I am currently waiting for the details of the materials that we're going to be working with. Once I have details, I will post an update.

The ranch is on 108 acres in Yamhill. The address is 23800 NW Flying M Road, Yamhill, OR (map). Google Maps sets the drive time from the school at 1 hour and 20 minutes (link). I will be working with you and the school on transportation options. Also, before the actual work day, I will verify final driving directions with Scott, the ranch's leader.
Timing
We will be starting on-site at 8:00. Depending on the final transportation arrangements, we may have people arriving a bit later. I don't have an exact completion time yet.
Clothing
Plan to wear clothes that can get dirty. Wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and at least a long-sleeve shirt. It is likely to be raining, so come prepared for that. The project is on rain or shine.
Parking
There is plenty of on-site parking. We will have it clearly marked when you arrive.
Cell Phones
You will not have cell service at the ranch.
Leadership
I am your blog writer and site leader; my name is Rob Garrison. My son Tanner is a sophomore. I will be helped by Mike Pratt (father of Randall, another sophomore) and hopefully some of you as we prepare (quickly) for this project.

Rob,
My son (Tim) and myself (Mark) have been assigned to this work site. We will bring the following tools:
1) Circular saws
2) Saw horses
3) DeWalt cordless Sawzall
4) DeWalt cord and cordless drills
4) utility knives
5) some sheetmetal/roofing experience
6) extensions ladders
From the photos it appears some power lines are attached to the fascia boards. And the fascia boards are only supported by the roof (no lookouts). If the roof sheeting material is replaced, then the fascia boards may also need to be removed, which may cause power line issues.
That's great that you'll be on this project. And thanks for the tools.
As I get more details from Scott, I will let him know about the power line concerns.
Rob
Great site Rob! This is so helpful to keep everyone informed.
Rob, We Will bring a Little Giant ladder, power tools, one set of saw horses, a pop-up canopy, some snacks and water jug. Would like to see people bring their own water bottles that we would refill when they need it.
Maybe you could put that on the list with gloves and eye protection. I'll throw in some extra gloves, too.
I can help with snacks, greeting, getting lunch set-up etc. Thanks for coordinating.
